What is sarma beyti nasıl yapılır?

Sarma Beyti is a popular Turkish dish made with ground beef or lamb mixed with herbs and spices, shaped into a long roll, wrapped in lavash or yufka bread and grilled. Here's a recipe for Sarma Beyti:

Ingredients:

  • 500g ground beef or lamb
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1/4 cup chopped mint leaves
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons red pepper paste
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 sheets yufka or lavash bread
  • 4 skewers, soaked in water

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef or lamb with the onion, garlic, parsley, mint, tomato paste, red pepper paste, cumin, salt and pepper.
  2. Knead the mixture for a few minutes until it forms a smooth and homogeneous texture.
  3. Divide the mixture into four equal parts and shape each part into a long roll.
  4. Place a sheet of yufka or lavash bread on a flat surface and place one of the meat rolls on it.
  5. Roll the bread around the meat, leaving some space at both ends and secure it with a skewer.
  6. Repeat with the remaining meat rolls and bread sheets.
  7. Preheat the grill or oven to 180C.
  8. Grill or bake the Sarma Beyti rolls for 20-25 minutes, turning them occasionally, until they are browned and cooked through.
  9. Serve the Sarma Beyti hot, sliced into bite-size pieces, with yogurt sauce and grilled vegetables.
